Wildlife in Madhav National Park

In Shivpuri, we went for boating in the Sakhya Sagar lake which is one of the important support system in the Madhav National Park. It is situated on the edge of forests of Madhav National Park. The lake is habitat of variety of reptiles. Species that can be seen here are marsh or mugger crocodile, Indian python and the monitor lizard.

While boating here our boatman showed us the crocodile resting on the rocks in the lake. He stopped the boat nearby for us to click some snaps.

  27. How big was your boat, one wonders! Good shot. Glad you are still alive to show us!

  28. I enlarged it! That is one big croc! We have alligators here in Florida -- not nearly so long, but fascinating all the same and they camoflage themselves in the same way as your crocodile -- they're quite hard to spot until you get used to seeing them.

You had a nice boatman to stop for this one.

  29. Hmmm not the best place to go swimming I take it? I love the picture though. He looks pretty tame just sitting there! And I like the wavy reflection as well.

  39. My oh my!! Any of those 3 reptiles you named would be scary to encounter...but the croc is surely the MOST scary shadowy creature. I don't imagine anyone swims in that water (other than the critters)!!
