Dhuandhar Falls, Bhedaghat

Bhedaghat by the side of river Namada is a place known for beautiful Dhuandhar Falls. Here the Narmada river, while making its way through the marble rocks narrows down and plunges over the rocks making a powerful roar and smoking cascade.

Water falling from a height of 150 ft generates great noise with water sprinkles. It looks like a white smoke or fog. Hence the name Dhuandhar (Smoky) Falls.

The impact of the natural splendor while reaching the ground, the affinity of the falling river is a charming cascade. This place remains closed during monsoon season for general public i.e. from July to end of September month.

  2. It is just beautiful. I love waterfalls. The most impressive I've ever seen, thus far, is Iguazu Falls, on the Argentinian
    Brazilian border.

  20. Wonderful falls! Amazing sight. I was last there in Dec 2007.

The Dhuandhar Falls can be likened to the Niagara Falls (and I can say this positively, having seen both).

I used to live near Niagara Falls, USA... but this sight took my breath away. No commercialization around it, simply nature at its most powerful. Perhaps the monsoon season is in its own way a gift, if only to spare you the T-shirt vendors and other $$ hawks...

Lovely, and I found you on ABC Weds. Thanks, and my take is below. Peace!

  53. Beautiful Falls -- snd an appropriate name for sure! I kind of "collect" waterfalls -- we've always tried to visit any that are in the area when we're traveling -- and now I love taking pictures of them. Thank you for sharing this beautiful trip.

  54. I believe it is one of the best rafting and picnic spots, we missed it. Photos are little dull maybe taken in rainy season or cloudy atmosphere.
