Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) runs bus services for traveling within the city. It has added or replaced its fleet of buses with the introduction of new buses. The service has been upgraded with the introduction of air-conditioned buses.
If one knows time required to travel before hand and are familiar with the routes, then these buses are the best mode of transport. The air-conditioned Volvo or Marcopolo buses are favorite mode of transport for people especially those who travel long distance to reach the office. These buses run on time and people can reach office at the right time. 
Daily and monthly passes are available for regular and Volvo services. Different passes are also available for Senior citizens.

ReplyDeleteI also saw the Red Volvo a/c buses in the city, even in Chennai these buses are introduced long age. These Volvo buses are gift to elders and disabled who feel difficult to climb the old higher in step buses. I wish people drive senseless should stop and follow the traffic rules and fast driving should be controlled except those, Bangalore is a wonderful city to live.
ReplyDeletebangalore bmtc tour buses are the ones I would always vote. we had surprisingly good time with thier team last year as we went bangalore darshan for a day.
ReplyDeleteotherwise the local buses too are quote good,we used them a lot in early 2000 when we lived in bangalore. I still remember bus 272 towards 80ft road.

ReplyDeleteIt's good to know that Bangalore is making improvements to its public transportation system. Public transportation is something that we don't have in so many parts of this country. Those new air-conditioned buses sound wonderful.

As a teenager, I used to ride the bus with my friends on a Saturday morning downtown to shop, have lunch, and go to a movie, I think those were called "the good old days". Have a lovely weekend. Bangalore buses are great. Separate gates for men and women and no pushing (other than normal). Kudoos to you for writing about it. A change from cribbing about things
