Puri

Puri is a town in the state of Orissa. It is situated on the Bay of Bengal, 60 kms south of the state capital Bhubaneswar. The city is most famous for the Jagannath Temple and sandy beaches.

This ancient city is repository of art and architecture of India with testaments dating back to 3rd century B.C.

The best mode of travel across the city to see the tourist places here are cycle or auto rickshaws. The important sites that I had visited here are:

  7. Beautiful temple and an impressive list of places to go. I imagine that your boys enjoyed the beaches more than the rest of the sightseeing! When they grow up they will want to come back to appreciate the history and beauty ;>)

  13. What great fun...but what is an auto rickshaw? I see your family got a chance to play in the water, too. I'm wondering how long it took to visit all of these places?

  39. The beach is lovely. There are many other secluded beaches nearby. For the religious minded people, the Char dham yatra starts from Puri, then Rameshwaram, followed by Dwarka and ending at Badrinath.
