Bhaskaresvara Temple, Bhubaneswar

Bhaskaresvara Temple  in  Bhubaneswar is located just 1 km away from another famous temple Rajarani Temple. It was built in the 12th century during reign of Ganga Dynasty rulers. This temple was built using sandstone.

The temple is facing towards west and Lord Shiva is the deity here. The temple is square in plan and and is built on a raised platform.

The temple  architecture follows Kalinga Style construction and is decorated with beautiful architectural motifs. The roof of the temple is in the form multi-layered pyramid.

In all the 3 directions excluding the front on the external wall of the temple there are beautiful sculptures in a window like niche.

  30. Happy to see this. This temple is hardly a kilometer and half from my bhubaneshwar house. These days they maintain the lawns well. ASI also does a good job in maintaining. Most of these temples have beautiful figurines and deities. Thanks for sharing this image.
