Coot at Ooty

We came across many birds during our visit to Ooty. We spotted many water birds while boating  in the Ooty Lake.  One of them is Coot.

Coots are small water birds. They have predominantly black plumage with red to dark red eyes and colored bills.

They are omnivorous, and they mainly eat plant material along with small animals and eggs.

  1. How interesting that Coots in India look quite similar to those we have in Canada!

  7. I posted about a coot this time, too. They remind me of a duck. I guess they are kin.

  9. Neat pictures. That name Ooty sounds amusing next to the word coot.
