The train route is a very scenic one. For the nature lovers it offers a 55km stretch of Western Ghats on one side and valley on the another side. The train passes over 90 major bridges and through 57 tunnels. Ironically the train starts from Bangalore around 7:45 p.m and one will not witness much of this beauty.
But still I could get glimpse of what I had missed on this scenic route.
As Mangalore station was approaching, I could see large number of white spots on a big tree. But as the train approached closer, I could make out that they were white cranes that are sitting on the trees.
It would have been great if the train had operated in the day time so we could enjoy the beauty of nature.
The cranes are stunning!!!Wish I could be there. Really nice post.
ReplyDeleteWhat marvelous shots! Really lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pictures bro...
ReplyDeleteI would love to take this train. Hopefully soon :)
ReplyDeleteisnt this going through sakleshpur - donigal - yedakumeri - siribagilu - subramanya road? i guess, the best way to check out this place is via a trek from donigal to subramanya road (or to yedakumeri for a shorter version). i too want to take a train ride along this route sometime :)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful countryside. I love taking the trains. Seeing all of those cranes is fascinating. They are like ornaments adorning the forest trees.
ReplyDeleteThe country is impressive and beautiful in its austerity. Thanks for sharing. Thanks also for your visit and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteJoo, Sylvia, Zen,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot.
Murugan,
Hope to see more snaps from you on this train.
Sandeep,
This is a beautiful place to trekking.
Natural Moments, Reader Wil,
countryside is beautiful as they are still untampered by the modernization.
Thanks to all.
Fantastic pictures. Who could have imagined that the cranes could look so stunning against the trees.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen so many cranes in one place. You got a great capture. The train ride sounds like it would be a wonderful experience, but like you I would like it to be a daylight ride.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my site.
Lovely photos. Love the scenery and the view of the many birds in the trees are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI had traveled by car, and was concentrating more on the bad road. I should take a train next. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely shots!
Nice post. I agree with you these long journeys should be in the daytime so that we can enjoy the view.
ReplyDeleteI've travelled Bangalore-Mangalore by bus, both night and day times, and for the scenic beauty, prefer the day journey. It's so green in the monsoons, and so soothing to the eyes!
ReplyDeleteThat route is indeed terrific and I had a chance to travel in the first Mangalore Bangalore express train (via Mysore) after almost 11 years. And I so wish for the same ..."It would have been great if the train had operated in the day time so we could enjoy the beauty of nature.". I hope the purposed express train (via Arsikere) will allow the glimpse of Western Ghats in the daytime.
ReplyDeleteBTW, thanks for dropping by my blog.
What a gorgeous landscape.
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos.. this reminds me of the train journey to Goa.. the route is extremely scenic too..
ReplyDeleteRaji, George, Alicesg,
ReplyDeleteFrom far I never realized that they are cranes on the tree. When the train approached closer to the point it made sense to me.
Indrani,
Road conditions are bad due to the heavy traffic on the route. It was good sometime back.
