Aircraft at Minsk Square, Bangalore

The aircraft, Ajeet, is a single-seater interceptor with a secondary ground-attack role. It was used by Air Force from 1975 to 1991. Ajeet was later shifted to Minsk Square, Bangalore where it was stationed for nearly 20 years.

But owing to the construction of Metro train route this has been shifted out of this place to HAL Heritage Museum. The image above no longer is the common sight at this place.

  3. not many people will be able to see if kept inside a museum... better display it in some other circle...

  10. Very interesting to get a glimpse into your world as it used to be, Rajesh.
I hope the Metro construction doesn't affect Bangalore's reputation as the Garden City.

  25. I saw Ajeet for the first time when I went for a defense motivation camp from Sainik School, Trivandrum. Beautiful aircraft, brought me back the memories of that trip back in the 80s. Thank you for sharing.

  32. I like how the shadow appears behind the aircraft - it almost seems like the exhaust from the engines as the plane makes a fast takeoff. Nice!

  38. I'm sure many people, especially the children, miss seeing that jet perched in the square, looking as if it is about to take off any minute.

  39. That's a majestic position to show off the plane... although I'm not such a fan of military displays. But it should certainly be kept for the sake of posterity.
