The Lalbagh Gardens at Bangalore is an important destination where one can find variety of flowers, fountains, trees. One of them is tree fossil.
This tree fossil is a collection from the Natioanl Fossil Park, Tiruvakkarai, South Arcot in Tamilnadu. It is supposed to be 20 million years old.
The fossil is of petrified coniferous tree.

ReplyDeleteFascinating. We have a "forest" of fossilized trees in the western part of the U.S. I remember visiting The Petrified Forest as a child and buying a small piece for a souvenir...don't know what happened to it, though.

ReplyDeleteThis is a grand tree fossil, unlike the ones i seen in Ooty and childrens park here. I have been to lal bagh, but i miss checking this.
ReplyDeleteOh it must have been a very huge tree. I prefer that this is displayed inside a covered area or a museum, so the elements and rain will not erode it slowly, that it can still last for longer time!

ReplyDeleteThat is a huge piece of petrified wood. We saw many smaller pieces of petrified wood in our Petrified Forest National Park this past June.
