A glimpse of India in black and white. This is a picture of Warli painting. They are folk paintings from Maharashtra and are very different from other folk and tribal paintings in India.
Beautiful click, Rajesh. I stay at Panvel. Members of the Warli tribe were once invited on Panvel station by the Central Railway and they painted the entire station with such paintings. White shapes on red oxide background. I talked to one of the guys for a long time. He said that all these paintings depict mythological events. He showed me one from Ramayana, when Seeta was kidnapped by Ravan. Well, I admit, I couldn't see either Seeta or Ravana, but, I just loved the symmetry and their dedication.
Amazing painting
