Black-capped Chickadee at Coonoor

In Sim's Park of Coonoor among the various plants and trees one can also see a lot of birds. During tour of the park we also spotted many birds and one such bird is Black-capped Chickadee.

It has a black cap, black bib and white sides to the face with a short dark bill. Its underparts are white with rusty brown on the flanks. Its back is gray and the tail is normally slate-gray.

It is curious, with little or no fear of humans.

The birds hop along tree branches searching for food like insects, seeds and berries.

  6. Surely that is a non-migratory North American bird? Are they kept in captivity in Indian zoos and the like?

  7. Phil: Yes, it is a non-migratory bird. But we do see them in India freely flying around in the parks where nature is very rich.
