I don't know that any of us are completely free. There are encumberances that keep us from that total ability to do anything we want and, rightly, so. I am happy with my place in the world and the freedoms I have. So many are less fortunate.
ha! nice photo to ask that question -- Am I really free? :)
freedom is something we humans carry in our head...in our thoughts, expressions,...And as part of our development we placed the once majestic animals inside bars! ridiculous, isn't it?
Your photo demonstrates freedom but it also has restrictions, like all of us have. My freedom is restricted by the ocean because I don't have the financial means to travel across the seas. Yet, I am free. . .
Thanks for visiting my blog a couple days ago. I forgot to return the visit then.
Terrific post, Rajesh! The lions are so beautiful! As to your question, I feel that we all have limited freedom and, yes, that can be both bad and good. I also feel that a lot of our freedom is within our own minds and how we deal our lives. And, perhaps, we create our own cages! Have a wonderful weekend!
I suppose these lions have the luxury of not having to catch their dinner. But then they aren't in control of their survival, and as such, will be dependent only. The question of whether or not they are truly free is a tough one. As it is said, freedom is not free...humans want to be free
Nice green grass. Looks like ample room to roam. Plenty of food. A mate to have fun with. Looks pretty good to me...Not sure if it's freedom, but it could be worse. In the wild there are poachers and drought and who knows what else.
They look to have all they need to be comfortable; but I wouldn't say they were free to live as they were intended. Thanks for sharing your photo of these majestic animals and for your thoughts as well.
While I admit it does bother me to see animals caged and not allowed to roam free, for my selfish reasons I do so enjoy visiting them at the zoo. Otherwise, when would we see these gorgeous creatures.
thought provoking question... We do build up our own walls and have others throw them up through conditioning - shame. Posts like this may serve to break that down.
We are all free within the boundary of freedom. ~ bangchik

ReplyDeleteYou're right, but still it's something sad in the view of those proud animals kept in Zoo!
ReplyDeleteGreetings:)
We will never be free, as free as we would like to be!
ReplyDeleteWe all only have limited freedom. That can be both good and bad at times.
ReplyDeleteVery debatable Rajesh.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot.
well depicted!

I think if we were all perfectly free the result would be anarchy.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot

Its a fantastic idea to enjoy
that photo contest maybe you will win that contest !!
(I think we are all free ...
(or not ;)
I think perhaps the difference is that, in many cases, people make their own cages.

We are governed and restricted by the laws of society but we can always be free in our own minds. Excellent shot of these powerful animals.
ReplyDeleteLooking to the height of fencing, it looks it can jump out to be free!
ReplyDeleteIt depends on which side of the fence you're on..
ReplyDeleteWe all have ties and obligations that stop us from being completely free.
ReplyDeleteNice Lions.
Nice punch! where did u take this shot?
ReplyDeleteThank to all for your wonderful responses for the question.
ReplyDeleteThere is a ditch beyond the railings. This shot was taken at Mysore Zoo.

ReplyDeleteFreedom of humanity is very limited as well as to these animals.
ReplyDeleteI wish lions (Leo is my zodia sign) have more freedom as I am. Love them- Happy week-end!

ReplyDeleteLove the words with the photo, so true.
ReplyDeleteSometimes we make our own cages !
ReplyDeleteGrand looking felines :)
ReplyDeleteFreedom is an illusion. Without freedom, we wouldn't have the bonds of love towards others and the responsibility that brings.
ReplyDeleteThey look to have all they need to be comfortable; but I wouldn't say they were free to live as they were intended.

freedom is a social trap ... cages are made to let others enjoy freedom too...

Hi Rajesh -
ReplyDeleteI agree with Indrani. It's debatable.
And Yosee is right, sometimes we do make our own cages.
That said, the lions are beautiful.
