Mysore Zoo is the most popular zoo at Mysore in India. There are various wild animals and birds at the zoo. One among them is beautiful peacock. This is the National bird of India.
When we were at Patiala University, my friend said that, around 5PM, dozens of peacocks come to roost in the trees. We were there most of the day so, dutifully, at 5P, we went to the site...and how disappointing. I saw only a couple of pea hens and the only male was nestled up in the tree. I never saw a peacock the rest of my time in India...lots of cows and monkeys, though!
One of the most beautiful birds in the country - unfortunately Muruga's vahana is being hunted indiscriminately by farmers and their numbers are fast reducing ! Really a pity.
that is a cool bird shot of a peacock :) a late visit from blue monday. http://www.heartscontentofamama.com/2012/05/blue-pansy-some-blue-wild-flowers.html
