Lepakshi

Lepakshi in Andra Pradesh state is at a distance of 130 kms away from  Bangalore. The place is famous for its silk saris with artificial zari borders. It is also popular for wood carvings.

As per mythology this was the place Lord Rama when searching for his abducted wife Sita, he found fallen bird Jatayu here. He commanded the bird to rise by saying, “Le Pakshi” which over time became Lepakshi.

For lovers of heritage here are:
Even though one can reach the place by either bus or train, the convenient mode of transport is by car. Start early to this place as it gets hotter later in the day.

Did you purchase a sari while you were there? Such an attractive garment they are. Your son is so cute sitting at the foot of the sculpture.

A lovely collection Rajesh. I enjoyed seeing the people who are visiting -- I can tell they are so happy to be in this holy place.

(The weather sounds like here in Florida this time of year -- you want to do your outdoor touring early in the day before it gets hot here too).

The top left photo must be a cobra representation, right? Love those carved stone pillars.

I always like when you place people in your pictures as the people give a sense of scale to the temples, etc.
