Hebbal Lake in north Bangalore is favorite spot for various colorful birds. People have identified nearly 100 spices of birds here.
One among them is Darter. They are tropical waterbirds. They are commonly known as "snakebird" as their long thin neck, which has a snake-like appearance when they swim with their bodies submerged.
This is a migratory bird that comes to here from outside India, may be Africa.

Fantastic! Great captures, pretty bird!
Marvelous capture of the darter.
Great photos!
We have many of these in Florida; we call them anhingas. They're great fun to watch. We lived by a canal in south Florida and would try to guess when they dived where they would come up.
They have to dry their wings after a certain period in the water...so you'll see them on rocks or in trees with their wings spread.
here in the states, what we call a 'snakebird' is a cormorant. they look similar.
A very elegant bird.
Great shots of the magnificent bird.
