Flowering Tree - Red Bottle Brush

Bangalore (State: Karnataka) known as Garden City true to its name as lot of flowering trees on either side of most of the roads. They bloom with flowers of various colors. One such tree is Bottle Brush tree also known as Callistemon.

The flowers are bright red, and attract nectar-feeding birds and insects. The flower spikes of this tree are made of several individual flowers. The name is apt as can bee seen from the bright red flowers which have the shape of a bottle brush.

The tree grow only as big as 15 feet. They enhance the beauty of any garden. They grow superbly in the regions where the climate is warm, humid, and receive full sunlight. The flowers produces small woody fruit that contain numerous seeds.

The fine leaves and the bright red inflorescence make this tree one of the beautiful trees that enhances the landscaping of any gardens or parks.

I knoe this wonderful plant. It grows in y country only as pot plant, to be brought in house during the winter. But I have seen it also, as bushes, in Greece.

Bangalore really has lots of trees & plants..not only flowering but fruit bearing....on my first visit there, i was amazed to see chiku trees in the road medians, and chikus were hanging from them!!!

i did not know the name of this flower...though have seen them at quite a few places....thanks for the info...

I took a photo of the bottlebush tree in Florida a few years ago. We don't have this kind of tree here. It was so amazing and looked just like little red brushes. Thanks for sharing Rajesh.

Beautiful! A few times over here I've seen a miniature version of this tree sold as an exotic house plant .. I imagine it is very hard to grow so far away from it's real home.

I love bottle brush plants. Here in our part of Florida they thrive and if not trimmed grow into substantial trees which are very pretty when in full color!

There is one of these beautiful trees growing in the Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park in Japan. I didn't know what it was until I got home and looked it up!
