Ganjam

Ganjam is a small historical place on Bangalore Mysore Highway. It is 17 kms from Mysore and 2 kms from the highway near Srirangapatna.

It lies at the confluence of two rivers Cauvery and Lokapavani. This centuries old place is the land of rulers of Mysore and they built the beautiful Nimishamba Temple for goddess Nimishamba on the banks of the river.

The landscape here is amazing with the temple on one side of the river and hill on the other side. The hill is hemmed in intermittently by bushes, tropical trees.

Here one can enjoy the beauty of the countryside by the riverside. For those who know swimming this is a ideal place as water is not deep. Coracles can be rented here for a ride in the calm waters and explore the other bank of the river.

This appears to be one of Mother Nature's beautiful creations...with a temple, too!

I've been out with knee surgery but am recovering fine.

Hope all is well with you, Rajesh!

Looks like an interesting place to explore! I would rather be there, than in the cities - too many people make me nervous, but this looks perfect!!

What a fabulous place you have shown us this week. There is a bit of everything here for the visitor. I love the landscape in the first, the temple, as always, is magnificent, but the shot with the water and the people is my favorite. Such a nice selections of photos. genie

It is amazing to know that the temple is in kind of a natural area instead of in the middle of a large city.
