Shaniwar Wada in Pune cannot be missed by any tourist at it is at the center of the city. Built in 1732, it is the residence of the Peshwas. This place in the ancient time had beautiful garden around the palace. Now there is only glimpse of past glory.
The garden had remarkable fountains in those days.
I have captured some of the flowers that had bloomed in the garden during my visit to the place.

Your second photo shows how magnificent those gardens must have been. The remaining flowers are still beautiful.
Hi,
Internet has made possible lots of things. For me , it the window to the outside world, and especially , our dear country. though blog like yours, I can see and feel the local scenes of places I only heard of or not heard of at all.
Thanks.
Oh, I wish I was in that garden with the fountain right now.;) Today here the weather is truly like the end of days are near, stormy and torrential rain.Sigh.;)

I love gardens, and this one is awesome!
I can imagine it must be very costly to keep up a place like this. Although I read recently that India had a large number of new billionaires last year! Maybe one of them could buy it and renovate it to its past glory? :-)
The garden is more attractive than the building which is quite severe and fortress-like, very unlike Indian traditional architecture, but it's different and interesting to see another side in a way!
amazing capture...love the flowers...
Sad to lose the beauty of the past, but there is still some there to see and your photos are wonderful as always, Rajesh! Love the colorful flowers and can just imagine how much colorful beauty was there before! Have a wonderful weekend with your family!

If you ask me, I think it is still beautiful...an amazing piece of architecture which you captured so well.genie
What an incredible building. The grounds are gorgeous.
It's strange to think about how much effort must have gone into keeping those fountains running. Nice shots!
Nice flowers at the garden.

It must have been a beautiful place. The gardens are impressive.
Cool pictures .
These look like frilled Irises in a flamboyant color I've never seen - and also a lovely species of Verbena which I plant in my gardens. Thank you for this flash of color, Rajesh. Have a good weekend with your Family.
I don't doubt about it. Just by the look where the fountain is located entails a great flower garden. Thanks for sharing!

Great shots from the beautiful garden!
Have a great weekend.
Both are lovely.
Pink Bougainvillea
That flowers, they're beautiful. I have seen them in Texas, too.
It is a little sad to know that the gardens are no longer well-maintained, but the building is beautiful and certainly would be worth a visit. (I wish I could do that!)
I can see that once Shaniwar Wada was once a beautiful and elegant establishment. The garden area looks like it was quite magnificent at one time.
The Canna and the Lantana flowers are so pretty!
beautiful place well maintained!
Thank you for showing us so many interesting places, and also the beautiful flowers.
Beautiful. Shanivaar Wada (or Peth?) was indeed an important area of Pune as the seat of the Peshwas. The last photograph seems to be a wild growth though these plants are now being cultivated with some kind of genetic engineering to bring out flowers with different colors.
beautiful garden, beautiful flower. Greetings from Romania. Have a nice week.
What a wonderful place, lovely flower images.
