Shivanasamudra Waterfalls

I had done this trip a few years back but had not written about it so far. This place is about 130 kms from Bangalore and we left home after breakfast to this place. The road to this place via small villages and scenic fields.

The dazzling Shivanasamudra Waterfalls is formed by River Kaveri. Here river creates two natural waterfalls named as Gaganchukki and Bharachukki where water flow is broken into two or more channels before dropping over a cliff. The falls are considered to be one among the 100 best waterfalls in the world.

It has an average width of 305 meters, a height of 98 m, and an average volume of 934 cubic meters/sec. The sight of these two falls is mesmerizing and the best time to visit them is during the monsoon the rainy season. This waterfalls can be reached from Bangalore via Kanakpura Road towards Mysore.

Sivanasamudram is one of the better waterfalls in the country. It's a fun place for any kind of team outing. The circular boats are also quite amazing. Nice captures!

Gosh those falls are beautiful. I have a friend working in Mysore right now and she wrote to me of visiting the Shivansamudra falls. It's been so long since I've visited India that I can't remember if I've seen them or not. :) Guess it may be time to come for a visit again. :) Have a lovely week.

Absolutely lovely.

The closest we got to India this week was a birthday party for our friend Siddhartha's sons, Shiv and Sai. The caterer made delicious dishes and we ate way too much.

Hi, whenever there is a waterfalls i will choose it from among a list of links. We sometimes take hassles and expenses just to see waterfalls, and that is spectacular. It is good there is a viewdeck where you can shoot it in wide angle. I haven't seen it in other posts though unlike those other big famous falls, but if only i am nearer i will be visiting. thanks.

I didn't know there are a number of waterfalls in India. They really make mountains beautiful and a true spirit of nature. I'm a little scared of waterfall currents though.
