Chamundi Hills at Mysore offers lot of attractions. One among them is colorful statue of daemon Mahishasura.
This gigantic image of the daemon greets visitors as they reach summit of the hill. In one hand there is cobra, while in another hand there is sword. This statue was built, along with the steps leading up the hill during the reign of King Dodda Devaraja.
As per the legend the demon was vanquished by Goddess Chamundeshwari as a symbol of victory of good over evil.

Wow, very impressive statue. How tall is it? He is so colourful, that despite the items he is holding he doesn't look too menacing.;)

Makes a good subject for photography.
This links me to nostalgia. I miss home now. We spent 2 golden years in kushalnagar watching this demon frequently.

He looks pretty ferocious, I'm glad he was vanquished, and by a goddess at that!

SKY DITTY
A little birdie told me,
Although I don’t know why,
That if I were to look up,
Way up into the sky,
I’d see some wondrous planets,
The moon and sun and stars –
There before my very eyes
Blazed Jupiter and Mars!
