Shringi Teertha at Bhoganandishwara Temple, Nandi

Shringi Teertha is large indoor water pond in 1000 year old Bhoganandishwara Temple Complex at Nandi on outskirts of Bangalore.

Around the pond there are various beautiful stone carvings.

This pond is believed to be a source of South Pinakini River. The pond has rock cut steps on which many lamps are lit by the side of the tank on certain festive days like Deepavali.

Love the detailed structure as always. I also like the reflection of it in the pond.

The reflection in the pond (last picture) is amazing -- the whole thing looks like it has been etched on glass. Lovely post.

Wow, the regularity of the steps that get down to the pond is so amazing : the pattern it forms looks like a reversed pyramid...

We have no buildings that old. Our country is not even nearly that old. I am in awe of such ancient beauty.
