Bhubaneshwar is the capital of Orissa and is a very ancient city. Today its has two distinctive regions the old town and the modern town. The city came into existence in 2nd century when the place was under the control of Mahamegha-bahana Chedi dynasty.
It is often referred to as a "City of Temples" as there are many Hindu temples with kalinga architecture. There are also Jain and Buddhist shrines around the city. The city was the ancient capital of the Kalinga Empire between 7th century and 11th century. The architectural legacy of the period can be seen even today. The temples here are regarded as having been built from the 8th to 12th centuries.

We reached this place from Bangalore by flight at around 12 p.m. But on that it rained and we could visit only few temples on that day.
