Birds in Neighbourhood - 16

I get to see variety of birds around my parents house in Udupi. I have captured few of them in my camera and one such beautiful bird is White-throated  Kingfisher.

This bird has a bright blue back, wings and tail. Its head, shoulders, flanks and lower belly are chestnut, and the throat and breast are white. The large bill and legs are bright red.

It can be seen in variety of habitats, mostly open country in the plains with trees, wires or other perches. It mainly feeds on large crustaceans, insects, earthworms, snakes, fish and frogs.

I have not heard of this Kingfisher...and pretty it is. Lucky you to be able to see so many exotic birds near your parents in Udupi.

I love to see kingfishers--they seem to be independent and confident birds with lovely colors.
